About DAVID HANSEN
David Hansen is an art director, painter and printmaker. He was born in Minnesota and educated at Parsons School of Design in New York, where he studied painting, history and graphic/communication design. Growing up in Minnesota, he was surrounded and fascinated by nature and wildlife. As a painter and designer elements of the natural world and natural forms are still heavily represented in his work.
With a love of various mediums and the curiosity to experiment and execute artwork in different techniques and styles, David creates work that is eclectic and wide-ranging. For his prints, he often paints, draws and creates physical artwork before digitally rendering and drawing to achieve diverse, authentic and one-of-a-kind prints. David also uses his keen eye for color to refine and elevate fashion and lifestyle trends.
David has shown his work internationally and started creating prints for commercial use in 2001. He started developing prints and patterns professionally for J. Crew in 2006, where he became the director of print, pattern and color. He continued this role at Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, and still makes wild and beautiful prints and paintings every day.
David currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Laurel and Portuguese Water Dog, Holiday.
